The British Driving Society
To encourage and Assist those interested in the Driving of Equine Animals.
Established in 1957

The aims of the Society are:

• To encourage and assist, in all ways, people of all ages interested in driving.

• To facilitate education concerning driving and related matters.

• To encourage and promote the interests of driving and related activities.

• To promote the welfare of driving equines.

• To encourage the promotion of driving classes at shows and to act as a body to which show organisations can refer for guidance.

• To promote the holding of meetings, rallies and social gatherings of Members.

• To maintain a directory of names of driving judges and lecturers.

• To co-operate with any other society, organisation or body in the furtherance of any of the purposes mentioned above.

The Society is authorised by the Ministry of Agriculture to issue Equine Passports as required under the Horse Passports Order 1997 (article 4).

The management and administration of the Society is vested in the Council,
who have the authority to delegate functions and duties to such committees as it may designate.
