Pleasure Drive at Enys Gardens
Sunday July 24th was the day of the drive at Enys Gardens in Penryn, Cornwall. It was long awaited as we were all prepared to go last year but were disappointed by a very bad weather forecast. Travelling to the event this year I experienced heavy rain but happily the weather was good by the time the horses were put to. Seven turnouts were able to join us. All eventualities were covered with a total of seven (!) fully qualified first aiders in attendance, thankfully we didn’t need the services of any of these supporters. Diane Hirst and Lynda Chapman kindly liaised with the owners, picked the route, organised all the gate stewards, produced a great health & safety risk assessment and even covered a cattle grid to allow access for the members and their horses. Huge thanks to Diane, Lynda and all the helpers – you did a grand job. The seven turnouts were able to enjoy an off-road drive of around 3-4 miles (with the promise of extending this next year). Several participants enjoy it so much they went round twice. We were even able to visit the clock tower and big house and Caitlin Barnett was stationed there to take photographs for everyone. A good day was had by all.
We look forward to returning next year.
