New information from DEFRA regarding the Legal Responsibilities of Owners in relation to Equine Passports


 



The BDS Brian Sims Scholarship 2014 will again take place in the summer and the Commissioners for Juniors, Caroline Dale-Leech MBE will be pleased to answer any queries about this. Contact her at redhousestables@hotmail.co.uk or via 01629 733583

The format is changing and this year there will be just one day at Bransby Horses in Lincoln on Monday July 28th, followed by “A Day to Remember” for all those that have taken part, together with The Presentation to the winning students at The Royal Mews in London on Thursday August 7th.

Details of the Scholarship requirements are shown in the Young Driver section of this website.

Application forms will be on the main BDS website in due course and also in the Summer BDS magazine.


HARD HAT RULING FOR OUR YOUNGER MEMBERS

Following a consensus of opinion of BDS Council and the BDS Safety Panel it is now considered that in the interests of our duty of care to our younger members, the Society wishes to introduce a formal Ruling on the wearing of hard hats.

We have had a letter from the Chairman of the National Equine Welfare Council (NWEC), of which the BDS are members, appealing for help with the crisis facing all UK equine rescue organisations.

Due to the concerns of a number of BDS member’s contacting the BDS Office, Council have recommended that the British Driving Society start a register of Commercial Horse Operators.
