Following a consensus of opinion of BDS Council and the BDS Safety Panel it is now considered that in the interests of our duty of care to our younger members, the Society wishes to introduce a formal Ruling on the wearing of hard hats.

We have had a letter from the Chairman of the National Equine Welfare Council (NWEC), of which the BDS are members, appealing for help with the crisis facing all UK equine rescue organisations.

Whatever your interest - pleasure driving or competing, singles, pairs or multiples - The British Driving Society is here to help and encourage you. Local Area Commissioners and Support Officers are on hand to give you guidance and the BDS has a panel of qualified instructors throughout the country and we run a proficiency test programme, which is respected world-wide as a basis for safe driving. This award is open to anyone who exhibits the same traditional type turnout on 10 occasions or more at a BDS Affiliated Show or BDS Activity in one season.( Because of geographical difficulties and lack of Shows/Activity's  in following areas , Northern Ireland  5 occasions and Channel islands 3 occasions.)

The BDS Sponsors 200 Club

The BDS Sponsors 200 Club was launched at the BDS AGM to raise money by way of sponsorship for the Annual BDS Show at Smith’s Lawn and Driving Addington to secure the future of both Shows. It will be administered by Mrs Jo Halnan-Blackwell, who will be directly responsible to the BDS Finance Committee.
