British Driving Society Area 15 – Derbyshire/Staffordshire BDS Show 2016

A dry, sunny day, a beautiful venue and 10 lovely turnouts made the Derbyshire/Staffordshire BDS Show, held in conjunction with the Northern Hackney Horse Club Show, at Bakewell Show Ground on Sunday, 7th August 2016, a huge success.

Nicola Salter, our Show Judge, chose Laura Challinor from Stockport with her lovely pony, Trigger, put to a beautiful Light Trade vehicle, as our Show Champion and Su Woodcock from Wetley Rocks, Stoke on Trent, with her game little Miniature Pony, Foldhouse Little Lord Valentine, as Reserve Champion.

The BEST YOUNG DRIVER AWARD went to Molly Heard driving Sally-Anne Baroudi’s lovely Friesian mare, Lottie, put to a four-wheeled exercise vehicle.

The DRIVERS DREAM AWARD was won by Julie Barker driving her pretty Shetland Pony, Padley Wood Pedro, put to a Bennington two-wheeled exercise vehicle

The OPEN EXERCISE VEHICLE AWARD was won by Su Woodcock driving Foldhouse Little Lord Valentine, put to a Bennington exercise vehicle.

CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE went to our Assistant Commissioner, Rita Stevens, driving her own Hackney gelding, Atlowsprings Rough Knight, and looked very elegant, put to a Bennington two-wheeled exercise vehicle.

Many congratulations to all of the award winners, and also to all of the non-winners who had all made a tremendous effort, and looked so smart. We are very proud of you all, very well done!

Finally, thanks to all our generous sponsors without you there would be a Show.

Footnote from AC’s Margaret and Sally – we would like to take this opportunity to thank Carolyn and Christine for all their hard work and making this a very successful event for our Members , which we hope will carry on as an annual event ?
