CHILD PROTECTION COURSE

Children and young people are the future of carriage driving and any child who is involved should be able to participate in a fun, safe environment and be protected from harm.

Everyone who teaches, examines or organizes an event which includes young people under 18 years of age needs to take a Child Protection Course.

The course outlines the roles and responsibilities that the BDS has in its duty of care towards young people and includes guidelines on protecting young people and promoting good practice within the Horse Industry.

The BDS has organized a course with Sports Coach UK which is entitled “Good Practice & Child Protection” and we will certificate those of you who attend.

It is to be held on Saturday 22nd May 2004 from 1.00 – 4.00 p.m. at the NFU Mutual Conference Room, Tiddington Road, Stratford upon Avon. It is open to BDS Officials and Members.

The BDS will pay the cost of this course but all attending have to purchase a “Resource Pack” which will be used during the course and retained for reference afterwards. These packs cost £7.99 each and must be ordered in advance, so you will need to commit yourselves to attending by sending your remittance for this amount.

BDS Officials will be circulated but any members interested in attending this course should contact the BDS Office, 83 New Road, Helmingham, Stowmarket, Suffolk IP14 6EA.  Tel: 01473 892001, Fax: 01473 892005
