The National Carriage Driving Championships at Windsor (this year sponsored by SsangYong) are again hosting some valuable Private Driving classes on Saturday, 17th September.

Thanks to the generosity of Voice Products, there will be two open Private Driving classes that include the opportunity for a show drive around the lovely Windsor Great Park. The is also a Concours d’Elegance kindly sponsored by Bruce and Rita Blundell who have been tremendous supporters of the Private Driving at the Championships and work tirelessly as the chief stewards for the classes.

While competitors are out on their drive in the park, the popular Light Trade Turnout class, sponsored by Carriage Driving magazine, takes place in the main ring and is sure to attract a good entry.

Simon Baker of Voice Products has always been anxious to get horses and ponies from all driving disciplines together, and his Novice Championship offers just such an opportunity with a first prize of £200. Animals can qualify by finishing 1st - 6th in a Novice or Open class at a Show affiliated to the BDS, BHDTA or HHS during 2004 and 2005.

The highlight of a great day of Private Driving is the Meet of Champions, to which all major show champions are invited, with a top prize of £400.

Spectators are very welcome at the National Championships where admission is free on Friday, and £5/person on Saturday and Sunday. Caravan parking is available at £25 including admission for the whole weekend (£10 to BHDTA members).

There is also the opportunity to purchase ‘day membership’ for the Victoria Enclosure overlooking the competition, where members will have coffee on arrival, a buffet lunch, with afternoon tea. Details from Jill Holah as above or visit the National Championships website at www.windsordriving.co.uk
