London Harness Horse Parade
APRIL 13TH 2009
ENTRY FEES REDUCED PLUS EXTRA SUPPORT FOR HEAVY HORSES
To assist exhibitors to cope with ever spiralling costs, the
Committee of the London Harness Horse Parade have taken the decision to
reduce entry fees by £5.00 for the 2009 Parade which takes place as
usual on Easter Monday (13th April 2009) at the South of England
Showground, Ardingly, West Sussex.
Due to the generous sponsorship of Fullers Brewery, we are this year
able to offer each exhibitor of Heavy Horses £50. towards their travel
costs, together with a refund of entry fees for entries forward. Heavy
Horses are a vital part of the parade and it is hoped that this will
encourage more Heavy Horse exhibitors to take part - be it a Trade
Turnout, drawing an Agricultural Implement or taking part in the
Decorated Harness class. Grateful thanks are passed to Fullers Brewery
for their sponsorship support in this respect.
Visitors to the 2009 Parade will once again be able to see the static
display of Horse Drawn vehicles. For the first time in 2009 there will
be plaiting and harnessing demonstrations which should be of great
interest to all spectators. It is also hoped to stage a display of
Historic Vehicles to give visitors a chance to see the progression from
horse drawn vehicles to the first motor cars. These new attractions will
be joined by the old favourites such as the Fullers Brewery Dray Rides
and the Pearly Kings and Queens, maintaining the Parades strong London
Heritage.
The London Harness Horse Parade has always strived to maintain its
strong traditions and family values and keep its exhibitors and
supporters at its heart. We look forward to the return of many past
exhibitors and to welcoming new faces. Whether you join us as an
exhibitor or spectator, Easter Monday really is a special day and needs
putting in your diary. Steeped in tradition, the Parade offers onlookers
a glimpse into a world gone by and for those participating, a chance to
show off their best turnouts as well as meet up with friends and fellow
enthusiasts.
