OBITUARY

 ANNE CICELY NORRIS
1st April, 1921 – 8th May, 2011

Anne who had driven since she was a young girl – her first turnout being a tandem of cats, was supported and encouraged in her early show ring endeavours by her cousin Sanders Watney. Her greatest triumph was the season of 1967 when she and her unforgettable pair of Welsh Mountain stallions, Coed Coch Peilat and Coed Coch Cilcain.won every major championship that year.

Anne had been a member of BDS for 50 years, and during that time she had been a member of Council for 20 years, retiring in 1985. She had been Area Commissioner for Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire from 1966 to 1970, and on the show committee from 1969 1985. She was Show Director in 1967 when the BDS show was held at Mardons, which was her home in Surrey. She was Chairman and secretary of the BDS Driving for the Disabled committee from 1980 to 1985.

In 1988 she was awarded the BDS Medal of Honour for her long service to the Society.

Anne believed in high standards of correctness, with no time for slap-dash or shoddiness, but she gave generously of her time to those who sought her help and advice. She was a true and loyal friend and a wonderfully supportive aunt.

There will be a Service to Celebrate her Life on Thursday 28th July at St. Mark's Church, Peaslake, Surrey. GU5 9RR at 2 p.m. followed by tea at the Hurtwood Hotel.
