Bwlchgwyn (the
highest village in Wales) saw many horse drawn turnouts enjoying a
relaxing weekend on the smallholding owned by BDS Area Commissioner
Janet Williams.
Saturday saw the four in hand team driven by Brian Reed (Bryneglwys)
joined by Peta & Elfyn Ellis (Kinnerton) and Dianne Rimmer
(Chester) head for the nearby Coed Llandegla carriage trails, spending
over two hours on the traffic free 7.5 mile carriage loop returning
for driven cones, several visitors who had never driven before had a
go at cone driving under the supervision of Training Officer Medina
Dicks of Penmaenmawr.
During the afternoon Training Officer Medina with Dilwyn put Medina's
two Welsh Section A ponies
Tynderw Blue Boy & Zebedee
together for the first time as a tandem and gave a demonstration when
everyone returned on their achievement, of course Area
Commissioner Janet could not resist the opportunity to have a go and
what a fine mess she made of it.
Prior to the evening buffet arranged by the Area Commissioner,
visitors were entertained to a wonderful display of balloons flying
overhead, from the Llangollen Balloon Festival, many of them landing
in fields close by.
Sunday morning was spent in break
out sessions, with those new to driving taking advantage of expert
tuition in setting too the correct size of vehicle and harness.

of Coed Llandegla, joined by Owen Williams of Pen Y Cae, Edith
